Just know I have mixed feelings about it.  One half of me is excited about my collection growing. The Second half of me is worried that they are just sitting and I'm not doing anything with them.  Thus, I've decided to share and swatch my whole collection and one day soon I will start my review videos.

1. It's My Alter Ego:

A special friend said to me recently. " I love your look and all them lipsticks, it's like it's your Alter Ego" -- @mysisterlockjourney. Just know at that moment a light blub came on in my head.  Before she told me that I really didn't have a clue why I enjoyed wearing  bold & bright Lippies. It was just always "Something" about them that work for me. Not easy to explain, but let's see how I do.

2. Favorite Colors in the World:

I'm learning that it doesn't help, that blue and green are my favorite colors.  I sort of look at

them as a pair.  Not even realizing it, I always gravitate to the two.  All shades of Blue....All shades of Green.

Side Bar: We (Me, my husband, son, BFF, BFF husband, and BFF daughter/my God-daughter) were out at dinner one night.  She said very low and under her breathe "Mrs. Kenya  Nook Nike a Bird". Her mom asked her "What did you say?". She said again getting louder every time. "Mrs. Kenya  Nook Nike a Bird", "Mrs. Kenya  Nook Nike a Bird", "Mrs. Kenya  Nook Nike a Birdddddddddddd!!!!!!!!". I was so embarrassed. Even a baby who was too small to speak stared at me twice. We laughed, however that gave me a complex about that blue lippie.

A few days later I met them at Wal-Mart. While shopping she pointed at a chip clip of a bird with a blue mouth. I said to myself, "Maybe I did Nook Nike a Bird".

3. To Inspire Women to Embrace Lipsticks

So....One day I woke up a said " I want to be Blogger" meaning a writer that writes about whatever's on their heart (my definition of a blogger). What should I write about I asked my self.  It came to me plain as day-- "Lipsticks, Lippies, and everything above, in-between, and below", if the makes and sense.

Along my Photography/Blogger Journey I realized in order to inspire someone I would have allow myself to go to the extreme with my choice of lipstick shades. Meaning if I can wear Greens, Blues, or Black, that means that a woman who may desire to wear lipsticks, but is afraid or self conscious about them can look at me and say " If  What's that Lippie? can wear those exotic shades, hell I can wear a conservative shade and pull it off." Yes, that's exactly how the lipstick inspiring goes.

I said all of the above to say. Life is too short not to live out the desires of your heart.  I love lipsticks and I feel like wearing them everyday makes me a happier person on this earth.  When you find your true passion, you always have to put your all into it.  Two years ago you couldn't have told me that I would be so crazy about what I do.

Birthday Fun: 33 Looks even better on me!!!!!!

This year has been a great one for me. I started this blog January 3rd and it's has been wonderful.  Inspiring women to embrace lipsticks has really gave me a happiest that is unexplainable.  It moves my heart when I find out that she now enjoys lipstick because of me. That's works for me.  "What's that Lippie" had embodied my heart and I am all that is lips, lipstick, and beauty. 

My First Blog Post

I wanted to do something DIVA, different, and definitely special for my 33rd birthday. I love African and Ankara Fashions.  Why not get with my mom and create one last clothing masterpiece.  I'm a very picky and detailed individual .  For this piece I knew that it had to have a pussy bow and and flowing skirt, 3/4 sleeve.  That "I'm a Classy Woman" look is what I was going for. Let's see how I did.....

Product Review: MAC Cosmetics RETRO MATTE LIQUID LIPCOLOUR

 This review is long, long, longgggggggg over due!!! Please note: I've been straddling the fence about these Lippies for a while. Let's just say it was a love/hate type of situation.

Anyone that knows me well, knows that I Love MAC Cosmetics -- Period. I am a die hard, it will always be my first choice, faithful MAC lover.  

2015 was the mighty year that Liquid Lipsticks showed up on the scene. Every company brought us their spin on this long lasting lipstick. I can remember wondering when would MAC join the game.  Thankfully, there were fashionably late January 7, 2016, however the shade line up made it worth the wait.

Let's take a look at these babies!!!!!

A few days after they launched, I picked out the four colors in the lineup that I felt were brown girl friendly.  Please note that 1 of the 4 (Recollection) was sold out, that left me 3. 2 out of the 3 I had left were on backorder (Oh, Lady and Dance with Me), meaning only high drama shipped out to me.  I was kinda hurt, but thank God I have a MAC Counter around the corner from my house.  The objective was to swatch the shades I ordered and one that a friend wanted to see. This was quite simple right?...Not quite.

After swatching the lippies on the back of my hand, I went to Bath and Body Works to pick up a few items.  While at the white top counter purchasing my items, I looked down and you won't believe what I saw. Lipstick all over their counter.  I was so embarrassed.

  The clerk said, "No worries hunny, we will clean it off". I went to the sink and did my best to wash it off, but without a makeup wipe handy it didn't work the lipstick was still on my hand.  Yeah, we started off on a bad note, however because I'm loyal to MAC I did not hold that against them.  Despite the occasional flaking, I still continued to wear my lippies.
One day I went to the MAC store in Atlanta, GA and the most helpful  MAC makeup artist I've meet so far gave me a tip for life. She told me to use MAC Prep + Prime Lip Base underneath these Liquid Babies.

Let's just say, this girl knows her stuff.  I've have been rocking these joints almost everyday. They are quickly moving up my lippie list.

 Although we had a rough start, I definitely recommend these lippies. MAC you have something good here, when you use the Prep + Prime.

Lipstick Wearer's: Daily "Must Have" Essentials

As lipstick lovers, we don't always think about what it takes to have a smooth day of wearing lippies. Early is my "loving lipsticks journey" I would just apply my Lippie of the Day before I left home for work in the mornings. Not once did I think about all of the many things that could happen during my 8 hour work day while wearing my lipstick. I know I'm talking about lipsticks, however the most embarrassing thing is to have lipstick on your teeth, chin, or khaki pants, then on top of that -- talking and greeting several hundreds of people and no one tells you.

How do you recover from that?

Over this last year I've learn two things about wearing lipsticks:

1. Wear Matte Liquid Lipsticks -- They stay in place.  I've decided to wear Matte Liquid Lipsticks majority of the time, especially if I'm going to wear the same lippie more than 6 hours. Just know that most Liquid Lipsticks will stay on your lips for at least 8 hours, and you must remove them with a makeup wipe or oil base product., if not it will just continue to hang around.

2. There are "Must Have" Essentials Items that you should carry with you at all times while wearing lipsticks.  Throughout the day you may need to touch up your lipstick after drinking and eating. I know it may seem like a lot, however I rather you have things items.  Don't be like me -- stuck with the lipstick stains on my lips until I can get to some wipes. Then I end up buying extra wipes, although I have some at home. A.K.A wasting money. Thank God I'm wiser now.

 

Example of  Daily "Must Have" Essentials

This photo was taken at my dinner table at a restaurant, I had to switch lippies because I didn't care for the one I wore there.  Even though I was about to eat dinner, I still had to change my lipstick -- can't go without it.

Let's break this down so you will know what to pack for your day of wearing Lipstick. 

I call it my - What's that Lippie? Lip Kit.

1. Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes/Wipes

You can feel free to try any brand you would like, however Neutrogena and only Neutrogena works for me. If I make a guess I think I've gone thru about 18 packs so far. Love, Love, Love!!!!! They cost about $5 per pack and they are worth every penny. You don't want to get caught without them. Even when I travel I make sure they are in my travel makeup bag. If not.... to Target, Wal-Mart, Ulta, Sephora, Base Exchange, Base Commissary, CVS, Walgreens, Rite-Aid,  Kroger, Publix, or Sam's Club I go.

2. Compact Mirror

You got to see what you are doing. Sometimes you make have to apply/reapply on the go, so a compact mirror is a "must have". I've tried to use my cell phone camera. It works, but the mirror is more accurate. I usually pick this type of mirror up from Michaels for about $1.50 -- Don't forget to use a 40% off coupon.

3. Lip Care Products

 Same with makeup wipes, brand is totally your choice, but you must have this handy. You always want to practice lip care daily to avoid a Lip Crisis.  It's hard to recover from "Cracked Lips".

4. Refresh/ Backup Lippie

I normally only bring one or two lippies out of my house at one time, unless I'm traveling -- then 4 at the max.  Because I pay an average of $18 plus per lipstick I try to limit losing any of them.  It is important that you bring the lippie that you are wearing to refresh when needed. Also if you are unsure of the lipstick ie. the formula or shade, you may want to bring a back up lippie that you already know works for you with you.

I hope that you have learned a little more about this complex world of lipstick wearing.  Just remember that it takes time to learn what you like and dislike when it comes to lipsticks. Until then don't forget to carry your makeup wipes!
