Lippies are fun but don’t forget about Lip Care

Lipsticks bring out the best in me.  However, when I’m going thru a Lip Crisis (clapped/sore lips) from wearing several types of lipsticks. Let’s just say you’ll see another side of me.

Clapped/Sore lips are so uncomfortable.

It’ll bother you all day until you take the time to add moisture and refresh your lips.

2015 was the year that the “Liquid Lipstick” Launched. I was so excited to join this nationwide beauty wave; I purchased 11 lipsticks off the bat (I will not share the brand of liquid lipstick, just in case I decide to try them again in the future). I can remember the day I tried my new liquid lipstick. Starting at 8 a.m., I started documenting the wear of this lippie. About 4 hours in it was cracking and peeling. When I removed the product after 6 hours of wear, my lips were tore up from the floor up. I called the company, told them how my lips were cracked/sore and returned all 11 lipsticks for a full refund. I was determined to find a liquid lipstick with a perfect formula that won't cause me to go into a lip crisis every time I wore it. After recovering, I realized that "Lip Care" must be apart of my daily routine and I must always apply lip balm anytime I'm not wearing lipstick --even before bed.

After 4 hours- Cracked in the inner lip

Love, Love, Love and Love. This Lip Balm is new to me. I've been faithfully using it for about 8 months now and let me tell you. I have one in my cosmetics bag in purse, one on my makeup vanity, one with my morning/night routine stuff, and I've gifted them to most of my friends. What I love most about it is, I can apply it before I apply my Liquid Lipstick. OMG, Maybelline has created something good you'll. I live by this lip balm.

***One important fact to know for Women of Color (W.O.C.) - Be sure to only purchase the Peppermint or Quenched, they apply clear.

Peach Kiss, Pink Punch, Cherry Me, and Grapevine are all Sheer Nudes. I'm sure they are nice, but it didn't work for my pecan tan skin tone.

Overall, this Lip Balm is a great formula, long lasting and wears very comfortable for many hours. To be honest it is a MUST HAVE in my opinion. Please go get it today.

My Review:
This Lip Goss is my old favorite, especially when I wasn't into lipsticks yet. Back in 2009 I was deployed to Iraq for 5 months and I brought 1 per month with me. I loved them. Very comfortable to wear and to my lip gloss lovers --it will suit you just fine. C.O. Bigelow states that this lip balm can be worn under or over lip color. I wouldn't recommend this with liquid lipsticks but just alone is a great choice.

Most helpful YouTube Videos in 2015

I don't know if you know this or not, but YouTube has everything one can ever need in an internet site.  Over the years I've learned to use it as a learning resource. Where else in the world can you go to one website to access unlimited Music, Videos and Tutorials? For some of you it may not be your cup of tea, but I can put on my headphones and watch for hours. As a consumer/shop-a-holic I like the idea of learning how a product worked for someone before I purchase it, at least I can have a heads up on what to expect.

Watching Tutorials has helped me beyond measures in my journey of mastering makeup application.

It's great that Beauty Gurus/ Vloggers, Makeup Artists (MUA), and Makeup Lovers  would take the time out of their lives and make helpful videos for us to learn from. Please note that it takes a lot of courage and skills to make these videos.  To show my appreciation and love, I've decided to list My Most Helpful YouTube Videos in 2015. My list includes Tutorials, Favorite Products, and Get Ready with Me Videos. I hope you find this helpful as I did. Without the help of YouTube I can't say where I would be in the world of Mighty Makeup.

Product Review: Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit-Deep

Let's just call this Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit  a "One - Stop - Shop".

The Glamorous Gleam featured this kit on her blog back in May 2015 and I had to have it. I love everything about it.

There are six colors that you can Highlight (Nude), Color Correct (Coral), Sculpt Brows (Cinnamon), and Contour (Chocolate, Espresso, and Carob) with. OMG-- Can you say AMAZING!!!!!!

This is picture of the one that was on the shelf at Sephora. It looks like everyone and they moma has swatched this baby. However, it was highly recommended by the Sephora Rep.

For a while I was nervous to use it, so I watched a few ABH Contour Cream Kit-Deep-YouTube Videos.  I must say that I really like it. It was easy to blend and the colors complemented my skin tone nicely. I'm not pro at contouring, however with this palette I can see it in my near future .

The best thing about this kit is you can buy refills when you run out of a shade. Also if you rather have powder they have The Original Contour Kit.

New Product Alert: RETRO MATTE LIQUID LIPCOLOUR

MAC Cosmetics has just released Matte Liquid Lipcolours!!!!! MAC describes them as a lip colour that provides a splash of colour in a liquid-suede finish that lingers. I've been waiting on them to join the liquid lipstick club all year. Their product packaging is unique and different, but I like it! Its a MAC lipstick on the top and a liquid lipstick on the bottom if that makes any sense. I received 1 of the 3 shades I ordered yesterday. I had to fight the urge not to put it on, but when it came I was already wearing lipstick and it wouldn't have been fair to that lippie to just remove it.  I want to ensure I give this lovely lippie a full review!

All 15 shades--So pretty!!!
When you get a minute stop by your local MAC counter to check these ladies out!!!
or
Check it out on their website.

Swatches and Full Review coming soon!

Started from the bottom, now I'm here

Make-up has no rules! However, there are do's and don't. The question is, at what point is that understood? I can only speak for myself. I've always had a special love for cosmetics. The brand of products never made a big deal for me, until 2005 I was introduced to MAC Cosmetics.  Please know my life changed, you couldn't tell me that I wasn't going to have the biggest collection.  My first purchase included 1 lip glass and Bronze eyeshadow. I can remember  buying more items, using them until I hit pan, and saving the containers to Back to MAC them.  The weird thing about this story is I never even thought about the proper application of the makeup. All I cared about was the fact that I was in love with MAC Cosmetics!!!! Here we are 11 years later -- Thank god it hit me!!! I wanted to look like the girls on Instagram and more importantly I needed my brows on Fleek for my headshots!!!!!

2013 - MAC Humid eyeshadow all over the lid and up to the eyebrow. OMG! I'm shame of this picture now, but the courage to show it comes from the fact I know better now.

2014- This photo encouraged me to learn how to do my Eyebrows.  I purchased my first DSRL Camera and wanted to capture my headscarf and blue lippie.

2015- Brows on Fleek!!!!!!  Nitraab gets all the credit here. She taught me how to do my brows with a $1- NYC Dark Brown Eyebrow Pencil. They were a little boxy but I was happy about the change and compliments.

May 15, 2015 - 32 Looks good on ME!!!!!! This is my 32nd Birthday Look. I woke up early to makeup my face for my special day, and you couldn't tell me nothing. My confidence was off the charts.
Sept 25, 2015- Our 2nd Anniversary - There always time for a beat face. By this time I had learned pretty much everything I needed for a simple face.

Dec 2015- NOW I'm here --Even with my head wrap, this day I felt like the african queen that I look like.
Now I know that KNOWLEDGE is Power, you can learn anything you put your mine to, and Youtube is your Best Friend to learn! Many may never understand why women wear makeup. I wear it to cover up a few flaws and to photograph flawless. The statement is true, makeup does work wonders. However, I'm the same girl with or without it.

If you could be any color bride what color would you choose?

Unfortunately I'm a person who's always thinking out of the box. One thing I can say about all of Jeffree Stars Velour Liquid Lipsticks are OUT OF THE BOX!! I can imagine when he created his formula and product shades he thought about everyone. He created shades in a range that would please the conservatives to the extreme bold lipstick wearers and everything in-between. Jeffree Star, Sir you got it right!!!!

My favorite color is green. When I first laid eyes on his Holiday Collection-Mistletoe Lipstick it was love and must review at first site. I had to find an unique way to express how I felt about this green lipstick. Many would shy away or frowned at the thought of me wearing green lipstick, however I knew that everyone loves a bride, no matter what color you are in, a bride is elegant either way. So I'm the green bride with my green veil and green lipstick . Please understand I wouldn't have it any other way.

A few of my cute faces!

What is "What that lippie?"

I love lipsticks!!!!!! It's weird that it took me years to find a cosmetic item that I couldn't live without. Most people fall in love with mascara and eyeliners, but I was never good at applying the two. After many times of sticking myself in the eyes or not being able to control my shaking hands I realized that I had to find something that worked for me.  In 2011 I began my Sisterlock journey and give myself a five year goal of becoming a Natural Hair Model. I knew that I would have to master makeup, so I took on the challenge. I started with mastering eyebrow application and next thing I knew I was a YouTube junkie studying makeup when I couldn't sleep at night. One year later I learned that I had a passion for educating and inspiring women to embrace the art of makeup. Often times I'm asked "What lipstick are you wearing?" hints came the name, What's that lippie?. I'm honored to share my knowledge of lipsticks and cosmetics to anyone who wants to listen, why not pass it on? So blog world, I'm here .....ready to write.......
